Hongjian Tan

Born in September 1995, he received his B.A. in Philosophy and M.A. in Foreign Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy, Peking University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of St Andrews, UK, under the supervision of Professor Jens Timmermann. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Bonn, Germany.

Currently, he works as an Assistant Researcher at Nanjing University.

His main research areas include moral philosophy and political philosophy, with a special focus on Kant’s practical philosophy; his research perspective also extends to early modern philosophy and German idealism.

He has published articles in journals such as Kantian Review, Journal of the History of Political Thought, and Tsinghua Studies in Western Philosophy.

At present, he teaches undergraduate courses on the History of European Philosophy.
