
Guo Guangyin, female, native of Linqing, Shandong Province. Professor and doctoral supervisor. In 1973, she entered the Department of Philosophy at Nanjing University, and after graduating in 1977, she remained at Nanjing University to join the faculty. During the 1980–1981 academic year, she pursued further studies in Ethics at Peking University and Renmin University of China. In her academic career, she has held positions including Teaching Assistant, Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Nanjing University, and has served as supervisor for both master’s and doctoral students. She has also taken on administrative roles such as Student Counselor, Class Advisor, Party Branch Secretary, and Director of the Teaching and Research Office. From 1984 onwards, she served successively as Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Party General Branch of the Department of Philosophy, Member of Nanjing University Party Committee, Director of the Publicity Department of Nanjing University Party Committee, and Standing Member of Nanjing University Party Committee. In 1994, she was appointed Deputy Secretary of Nanjing University Party Committee, and in 2003, Executive Deputy Secretary of Nanjing University Party Committee (Director-General level). In 2005, she became Vice Minister of the Organization Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee (Director-General level), concurrently serving as Deputy Director of the Provincial Inspection Office, Director of the Provincial Talent Office, and Director of the Provincial Cadre Education and Training Office. From January 2011 to November 2015, she served as Party Secretary of Southeast University (Vice Ministerial level). Currently, she is a Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Philosophy, Nanjing University, and a specially invited expert at the Moral Development Institute and the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at Southeast University. She previously served as Director of the Jiangsu Research Center for the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and as Dean and Chief Expert of the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at Southeast University. She has also been Chief Expert for the Central Project for Marxist Theory Research and Construction. She has held positions including Vice President of China Association For Ethical Studies, rotating President of the Jiangsu Ethics Society, and advisor to the Jiangsu Society for the History of the Communist Party of China. She is recognized as a Distinguished Scholar in the Social Sciences in Jiangsu Province. Her long-term academic focus is on Marxist philosophy and Ethics, and she is recognized as the academic leader of the Ethics program in the Department of Philosophy at Nanjing University. In June 1980, she attended the first congress of China Association For Ethical Studies and subsequently pursued further studies at Peking University and Renmin University. Together with colleagues in the department, she contributed to the establishment of the Ethics discipline at Nanjing University. Her research interests include Marxist philosophy, principles of Ethics, contemporary moral development in China, the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Party building, and higher education management. She teaches courses such as Principles of Ethics, Modern Ethics, Special Topics on Contemporary Ethical Issues, Special Topics on Marxist Ethics, and Moral Development in Contemporary China, and has supervised over 80 master’s and doctoral students.
