Main academic interests: history of Marxism, social theory, urban studies, film studies. Recent focuses: engineering and social development, technological society, critique of post-wealth political economy, hyper-modernity, new forms of civilization.

Having dedicated over three decades to higher education.

Key academic positions: President of the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Marxist Theory Research; Chair of the Engineering and Social Development Professional Committee, Chinese Society for Dialectics of Nature; Vice Chair of the Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Guidance Committee for Ideological and Political Theory Courses; Member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Marxist Theory, Ministry of Education; and others.
